CF Cornerman Terms of Use
For the CF Cornerman app at app.cfcornerman.com.
Effective date: December 8, 2026
Last updated: December 8, 2026
This page covers the CF Cornerman app. See also the app’s Privacy Policy.
Welcome to CF Cornerman. CF Cornerman is a free web app that suggests small, everyday ways to support the cystic fibrosis (CF) community. It is operated by Directive LLC, an Ohio limited liability company (“CF Cornerman,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and us. They apply to the CF Cornerman web app at app.cfcornerman.com (including the version you can add to your phone’s home screen), our emails, and any related services (together, the “App”). The CF Cornerman website at cfcornerman.com, including the book information there, is a separate site and is not covered by these Terms.
By creating an account or using the App, you agree to these Terms and to our . If you don’t agree, please don’t use the App.
Please read Section 18 (Limitation of liability) and Section 20 (Disputes) carefully. They limit our responsibility and explain how disputes are handled.
1. What CF Cornerman is, and what it isn’t
CF Cornerman suggests simple actions you can take to support the CF community, such as learning about CF, saying thank you, inviting a friend, preparing for a walk, or contacting lawmakers. It lets you track the actions you take, earn badges and ranks, and see what your Corner is doing together.
CF Cornerman is:
- Free to use.
- An independent community project.
CF Cornerman is not:
- A medical service (see Section 2).
- Part of, or approved by, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (see Section 3).
- A fundraising or donation platform. The App does not ask for, collect, hold, or send money for anyone (see Section 10).
2. Not medical advice
The App does not provide medical advice. Nothing in the App is meant to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease, or to replace advice from a qualified health professional.
If you or someone you care about has questions about cystic fibrosis or any health condition, please talk with a CF care team or another qualified health professional. Never ignore professional medical advice, or delay seeking it, because of something you read in the App or on a site it links to. In an emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number.
3. Not affiliated with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
CF Cornerman is an independent community project. It is not managed, sponsored, endorsed, or operated by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF). We link to CFF pages, such as Great Strides walk pages, advocacy pages, and donation pages, to help people find them.
“Cystic Fibrosis Foundation,” “CF Foundation,” “Great Strides,” and “65 Roses” are trademarks of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Any other names, logos, and marks mentioned in the App belong to their owners. We use these names only to identify, by name, the real organizations and events we link to, and their use does not mean that the owner endorses the App. If the owner of any of these names asks us to stop using it, we will.
When you participate in a CFF event or program, you are dealing directly with CFF (or the event organizer), and their terms and policies apply. You are not a volunteer, agent, or representative of CFF because you use the App, and you should not present yourself as one.
4. Who can use the App
To use the App, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old. You confirm this when you create an account. The App is not available to anyone under 18, even with a parent’s permission.
- Be able to form a binding agreement with us.
- Not be barred from using the App under the laws that apply to you.
- Not have had a CF Cornerman account removed by us before, unless we’ve told you otherwise.
The App is designed for people in the United States. If you use it from somewhere else, you are responsible for following your local laws.
5. Your account
- Signing in. You sign in with a one-time link or a 6-digit code sent to your email. There is no password. Anyone who can get into your email can get into your account, so please keep your email account secure.
- Accurate information. Use an email address you own and control, and keep your account information accurate and up to date.
- One person, one account. Accounts are personal. Please don’t share your account, create more than one account, or create an account for someone else.
- Your responsibility. You are responsible for what happens under your account. If you think someone else is using your account, please tell us right away at support@cfcornerman.com.
6. The App is free
The App is free. We don’t charge fees, sell subscriptions, or show ads. If we ever decide to charge for any part of the App, we will tell you clearly in advance, and you will never be charged without agreeing first.
7. Rules for using the App
Please be kind, honest, and respectful. When you use the App, you agree not to:
- Break any law or regulation, or help anyone else do so.
- Pretend to be someone else, or misrepresent your connection to any person or organization, including CFF.
- Use a display name or photo that is hateful, harassing, threatening, sexual, violent, discriminatory, misleading, or that infringes someone else’s rights.
- Put health, medical, or genetic information (yours or anyone else’s) into your display name, photo, or any other part of the App.
- Use the App to ask for money, sell products or services, advertise, or promote a business, unless it is a link to an official event or charity page you are taking part in (such as your own walk team page).
- Spam people with your invite link or share messages, or share them in a misleading way.
- Create fake accounts, report actions you didn’t take, or otherwise game badges, ranks, invite counts, or the Community feed.
- Use bots, scripts, scrapers, or other automated tools to access or collect information from the App.
- Try to hack, overload, interfere with, or break the App, get around its security or privacy settings, or access information you’re not allowed to see.
- Copy, sell, license, or reuse the App, its content, or its code for any commercial purpose without our written permission.
- Use the App to harass, track, or collect information about other users.
We may investigate and take action against violations, including removing content, adjusting badges or counts, and suspending or ending accounts (see Section 15).
8. Your display name and photo
The only content you add to the App is your display name, an optional profile photo, and an optional link to your own walk or fundraising page. There are no posts, comments, or messages between users.
Photo rules. Only upload a photo that:
- You took yourself or have the right to use.
- Shows you, or an image that represents you. Don’t upload a photo of another adult without their permission.
- Does not show children, unless you are their parent or legal guardian.
- Contains no nudity, violence, hate symbols, or illegal or offensive content.
- Does not include logos, trademarks, or images you don’t have the rights to, including CFF logos.
Your link. If you add a link to your walk or fundraising page, it must go to a real page that belongs to you, on the official website of the event or charity. Don’t add links to anything else.
Ownership and permission. You keep ownership of your display name and photo. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide permission to store, copy, resize, and display them in the App, only as your privacy settings allow and only to operate and improve the App. This permission ends when you remove them or delete your account, except for copies in backups, which are erased as the backups roll over, as described in our Privacy Policy.
Removal. We may remove or hide a display name, photo, or link that breaks these Terms, and we may replace a display name with a neutral one.
Photo visibility. Profile photos are stored at a web address that someone could open if they had the exact link. See our Privacy Policy for details.
9. Actions, badges, ranks, and the Community feed
- Self-reported. The actions you mark as done are self-reported. We don’t verify them, so please be honest.
- Just for encouragement. Badges, ranks, milestones, and counts are for motivation and fun. They have no cash value, aren’t property, and can’t be sold, traded, or transferred.
- Changes. We may change how actions, badges, and ranks work, and we may correct or remove ones that were earned by mistake or by breaking these Terms.
- The Community feed shows only automatic milestone messages that the App creates, based on your privacy settings.
- Suggestions. The App’s suggestions come from simple rules. We don’t promise that any action is right for you. Only take actions you’re comfortable with.
10. Donations, fundraising, and events
- We don’t handle money. The App does not accept, process, hold, or pass along donations or payments for anyone. We don’t raise money “through” the App, and we receive nothing when you donate.
- Linked sites. If you choose to donate, register for an event, or fundraise, you will do so directly on the charity’s or event organizer’s own website. That transaction is between you and them, under their terms, and their privacy policy applies.
- Events are run by others. Walks and other events shown in the App are organized by third parties, such as CFF. We show event names, dates, and links as a convenience and do our best to keep them accurate, but dates and details can change. Always check the official event page before you go.
- Your safety. Taking part in walks and other in-person events involves physical activity and travel. You choose whether to take part, you are responsible for your own health and safety, and you should follow the organizer’s rules. We are not the organizer of any event and are not responsible for what happens at it.
- Contacting lawmakers. When the App suggests contacting elected officials, you decide what to say. Messages you send are your own.
11. Invite links and QR codes
- You can share a personal invite link or QR code. When someone signs up through it, they join your Corner.
- Share your link only with people who would want to receive it, and follow the rules of the services you share it on. Don’t use your link in a way that is spammy, misleading, or implies that CFF or anyone else endorses it.
- There are no prizes, payments, or rewards of money for invites.
- We may remove invite credit that came from fake accounts or misuse.
12. Share buttons and messages you send
Share buttons open other apps and sites (such as text messages, email, WhatsApp, X, LinkedIn, and Facebook) with a suggested message you can edit. You decide what to send and whom to send it to, and you are responsible for messages you send. We don’t send messages for you and don’t access your contacts. Please only send messages to people who would want to receive them, and follow the rules of the service you use.
13. Links and other services
The App links to websites and services we don’t control, such as CFF pages, event pages, and social media. We aren’t responsible for their content, accuracy, availability, or privacy practices. Their own terms and policies apply when you use them.
The App relies on third-party services to work (such as hosting, database, and email providers). We aren’t responsible for interruptions caused by them.
14. Our content and the App
We (or our licensors) own the App and everything in it, other than your own content, including its design, text, suggested actions, share messages, lessons and stories (including any material from Lessons from a CF Cornerman used with the author’s permission), graphics, badge art, logos, and code. “CF Cornerman,” the CF Cornerman logo, and “Always in your corner.” are trademarks of Directive LLC.
Subject to these Terms, we give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable permission to use the App for your own non-commercial purposes. You may send the App’s built-in share messages and your invite link, and print or share reports of your own activity. Otherwise, please don’t copy, change, distribute, or create works based on our content without our written permission.
Feedback. If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them without any obligation to you.
15. Ending your use of the App
- You can stop at any time. You can delete your account in Settings > Account > Delete account, or by emailing support@cfcornerman.com. What happens to your information is explained in our Privacy Policy.
- We may suspend or end your account if you break these Terms, if we must for legal reasons, or to protect other users, the public, or us. When it’s reasonable, we’ll tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem.
- We may change, pause, or stop the App. CF Cornerman is a free project. We may add, change, or remove features, or stop offering the App, at any time. If we plan to shut the App down, we will try to give at least 30 days’ notice by email or in the App.
Sections that by their nature should continue after your account ends (including Sections 8 to 10, 14, and 16 to 23) will continue to apply.
16. Copyright complaints
We respect others’ rights. If you believe a profile photo or other material in the App infringes your copyright, send a notice to our designated copyright agent with:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- A description of the copyrighted work.
- Where the material is in the App (for example, the profile’s name or a screenshot).
- Your name, address, phone number, and email address.
- A statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner.
Copyright agent: Directive LLC, Attn: Copyright Agent, 952 Winchester Rd, Unit #308, Lexington, KY 40505, copyright@cfcornerman.com. Our designated agent is registered with the US Copyright Office.
We may remove material in response to a valid notice and, in appropriate cases, end the accounts of repeat infringers. If your material was removed and you believe it was a mistake, you may send us a counter-notice as described in the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512).
17. Disclaimers
The App is provided “as is” and “as available.” We work hard to keep it running well, but we can’t promise that the App will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that event dates, links, suggestions, or other information will always be accurate or current.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We are not responsible for the conduct of any user, any event organizer, or any third-party website or service.
18. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows:
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, goodwill, or profits, arising out of or related to the App or these Terms, even if we were told such damages were possible.
- Our total liability to you for all claims arising out of or related to the App or these Terms is limited to one hundred US dollars (US $100).
These limits apply to every legal theory (contract, tort, negligence, or anything else). They don’t apply to liability that the law does not allow us to limit, such as liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or death or personal injury caused by our negligence where the law prohibits limiting it. Some states don’t allow certain limits, so some of them may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under consumer protection laws that can’t be waived by contract.
19. Indemnity
If someone else brings a claim against us because you intentionally or knowingly broke these Terms or the law, or violated their rights, while using the App, you agree to cover our reasonable costs and losses from that claim (including reasonable attorneys’ fees), to the extent the law allows. This does not apply to any part of a claim caused by our own conduct. We will tell you promptly about any such claim.
20. Disputes and governing law
- Let’s talk first. Most concerns can be resolved quickly and informally. Before starting any formal legal action, please email us at support@cfcornerman.com with a description of the issue and how you’d like it resolved. We’ll try in good faith to resolve it within 60 days.
- Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, and applicable US federal law, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. If you use the App as a consumer, this does not take away any protection you have under the consumer protection or privacy laws of the state where you live.
- Where disputes are heard. Any dispute that isn’t resolved informally will be decided in the state or federal courts located in Hamilton County, Ohio, or, if you prefer, in the courts of the county where you live, unless applicable law requires a different forum. You and we agree to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. There is no mandatory arbitration and no class-action waiver. Either of us may instead bring an individual claim in small claims court if it qualifies.
21. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date at the top. If we make a material change, we’ll tell you by email or in the App at least 14 days before it takes effect, unless the change is required sooner by law or to address misuse. If you keep using the App after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms. If you don’t agree, please stop using the App and delete your account.
22. Other legal terms
- Entire agreement. These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the App.
- Severability. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, it will be limited to the minimum extent necessary, and the rest stays in effect.
- No waiver. If we don’t enforce part of these Terms right away, we can still enforce it later.
- Assignment. You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms. We may transfer ours, for example if the App moves to a new operator, an affiliated company, or a nonprofit organization, as long as the new operator honors these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
- Electronic notices. You agree that we may send you notices and other communications electronically, by email or in the App, and that these satisfy any requirement that they be in writing.
- No third-party beneficiaries. These Terms do not give rights to anyone other than you and us.
- Events beyond our control. We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control.
- Headings are for convenience only.
23. Notice for California users
Under California Civil Code Section 1789.3, California users are entitled to the following notice.
